How does one say goodbye to their secret best friend? How do you go on without them greeting every day of your lives together with pure delight?
How do you go through a day without getting to see them wiggle and squirm, or protecting you like their life depends upon it, as well as guiding your way down all dark paths that may include your well lit hallway or a closed bathroom door.

How does your life even remotely become full again when you no longer have them to entertain your every moment and how do you smile again without their special personal little clown show to light you up. They touch our lives like nothing else, we can open our heart like we never have done before, we get down on our knees and talk like fools to them and only them. They allow us to open up in ways we just cannot open up. They are a shoulder, a furry hip, a smile, a wiggle, a stinky smell and they are our direct connection to our soul, they are our dogs.
How do we say goodbye?
Perhaps we could acknowledge all that they have done for us, perhaps we could start a scroll or a journal that goes on forever, perhaps we could yell it from a mountain top and perhaps we could love all creatures like we loved that one dog.
How about we do all of the healing that we need to, learn all of the lessons that they taught us and perhaps then we could go to an animal rescue and allow your past dog to guide you to your “oh so new dog”. No one will be like your last one.
Never stop loving, never stop caring, keep your heart as wide open as they cracked it and move forward when the time is right and love again…love new and fresh, open up wide again and listen to the new lessons that they have to teach us.
PS, you never, ever ,ever have to say good bye when you can just close your eyes breathe, really deep and imagine them at your side.
How do “you” say goodbye.
You don’t…. You say Ill see you again…. And, thank you.
Well said Michelle.
Thansk Deborah!
